We have tried to anticipate some of the questions you may have, in order to help you with your Safari Swing booking. We will continue to update this page regularly with more information. Safari Swing runs from the 19th - 24th September 2024
Safari Swing is an exciting and unique dance experience, taking place in South Africa, starting in Sandton, Johannesburg, before heading to the plains of Pilanesberg National Park. It is a truly incredible event and one you do not want to miss!
Safari Swing is a virtually all-inclusive dance experience, where you will be taken care of by the Safari Swing team throughout the whole event. Your ticket includes, transfers, luxury hotel accommodation, meals, drinks, guided game drives in the South African bush and dance lessons from West Coast Swing superstars, Jordan Frisbee and Tatiana Mollmann, and Thibault and Nicle Ramirez. Check out our What's Included page for more information.
Due to the boutique nature of this event, only 56 tickets are available, so please ensure you book early to avoid disappointment.
No, Safari Swing is for couples and singles, but we are unable to offer single rooms. All bookings must match the capacity of the accommodation you are booking, whether for two or four people.
If all parties involved in swapping rooms are happy to do so, there is no problem swapping. For example, if two couples make a role balanced booking and wish to swap so that the leaders share one room and the followers share the other, that is fine. We only ask that you notify us so that, for operational reasons, we know who will be sleeping in each room.
All rooms can be configured with double or twin beds.
In order to maximise everyone's dancing experience, all bookings must be role balanced between leaders and followers. To ensure fairness to all guests, you are expected to participate in the majority of workshops in your chosen role.
In order to maximise everyone's dancing experience, all bookings must be role balanced between leaders and followers. If you are a solo follower and you would like to book, but cannot find a leader to book with, please email info@safariswing.com and we will do our best to assist.

Safari Swing will cater for all levels of West Coast Swing, including beginners, but we do recommend that you have at least some experience of the dance to ensure you get the most out of the event. You have the opportunity to learn from the world's top dancers so it would be helpful to have a platform to build on so you really benefit from their skills and experience.
We will be running both levelled and general workshops at Safari Swing. Due to the small and intimate nature of lessons at the event, the Safari Swing teachers are confident that they will be able to improve everyone's dancing, ensure that they really benefit from this event.
As Safari Swing is such a small, boutique event, most levelled classes will have just 10-14 couples in them. General classes will have a maximum of 28 couples. These small class sizes will allow the Safari Swing teachers to really focus on your dancing and provide helpful feedback to ensure you improve.
The majority of workshops and social dancing will be open only to event attendees holding a Safari Swing ticket. However, we are hoping to open Thursday evening to a limited number of local dancers. This will include the class with Thibault and Nicole, as well as the evening social dance and pro-shows. Please check the website regularly, or subscribe to our newsletter, to receive more information.

Yes, the hotels are very good at accommodating most dietary requirements and food allergies. Please ensure that you notify us in advance so that we can confirm this with the hotel.
Once you have made your booking and confirmed your flights, please let us know your arrival and departure details and we will arrange transfers for you, all included as part of the Safari Swing experience.
Yes, absolutely. In fact, we actively encourage you to do so! South Africa is a wonderful country, with so much to see and do. If you have the time, it's definitely worth extending your trip.
If you wish to arrive early, we can help arrange additional nights at the first Safari Swing hotel at a preferred rate for the event. Should you wish to go elsewhere, either before or after the event, we would be happy to make recommendations on things to see and do. Please contact us at info@safariswing.com to discuss.
We have chosen to run Safari Swing in late September as this is generally considered one of the best times of year to go on safari. As it is late spring in South Africa, we can expect warm, dry days, with very little chance of rain. After six dry months, vegetation is sparse, making it easier to spot game, and, with few pockets of water in the mountains, animals can often be found congregating near to watering holes. Early spring is also when many animals give birth so keep your eyes peeled for new borns around the reserve.
No, because you won't need to. Brad Whelan, one of West Coast Swing's most well known and respected photographers, will be photographing the event for us and all pictures will be made available for FREE to all participants.
South Africa offers visa free entry for the purposes of tourism to many nationalities, such as citizens of the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and many other countries. Please check your local government website to confirm your visa requirements before booking any travel.
Most people will not require additional vaccinations to attend Safari Swing, but we do recommend taking advice from your local health organisation before you travel. It is also worth noting that all of the regions we are visiting are malaria free.
We really wouldn't recommend this.
